NIS2 extends its scope to a larger number of entities, <strong>expanding the sectors considered essential<\/strong>, including energy, transport, financial markets, digital infrastructure, public administration, and space.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember507\" class=\"ember-view reader-content-blocks__paragraph\">The Directive classifies entities into two groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Essential<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Important<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Essential&#8221;<\/strong> entities must comply with<strong> stricter security requirements<\/strong> due to their <strong>crucial role in society<\/strong>, while <strong>&#8220;Important&#8221;<\/strong> entities are subject to<strong> less stringent obligations<\/strong>, despite playing a <strong>significant role in the EU&#8217;s cyber ecosystem.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"flex-shrink-0 flex flex-col relative cybersecurity policies and procedures<\/strong> while investing in necessary training and technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The NIS2 Directive requires governments to <strong>establish or strengthen national cybersecurity frameworks<\/strong>, including the appointment of competent authorities, the training of computer security incident response teams (CSIRTs), and the development of national entities, fines can reach <strong>up to 10 million euros or 2% of the global annual turnover<\/strong>, whichever is higher. For Important entities, fines can reach <strong>up to 7 million euros or 1.4% of the global annual turnover<\/strong>, whichever is higher.<\/p>\n<p>The NIS2 Directive emphasizes the importance of combining a <strong>reactive approach with a proactive component<\/strong>, as it will be almost impossible to remain unscathed from cybercriminal
